Hi every one, my name is Thomas and like all of you I love this sport, so I would like to pass on to you some info and shots of our best spot on the island of Sicily wether you are a wave sailor, a freestyle nut or simply a easy going freerider.
Puzziteddu is on the south-west coast, easily reachable with a 45 minute car ride from the airport of Palermo or 1 hour from the harbour, taking the Highway A29 in direction Mazara Del Vallo, exit Campobello di Mazara and continuing for Torretta–Granitola, then left at the Kartibubbu sign untill you get to the sea.

The spot works best with West and North-West winds, this last one offers incredible conditions, a nice long and smooth wave ideal for great front-side surfing and astonishing jumps, starboard tack. The South-west wind comes side-on and it brings mast high waves for radicals only. With East and south-east winds it’s best to move 300 meters down wind in the gulf of Kartibubbo where the wind, side-off, makes the waves longer and smoother, port tack.

Best time of the year for wind and waves is autumn, winter and spring, waves up to 4 meters and sail most used 4.5 to 5.3. In the summer the conditions are more freestyle or slalom, a daily thermal wind let’s you out with a 5.7 to 6.3 sail. When the conditions are too radical at Pozziteddu, one can find along the 15 km of sandy coast from Cape Granitola to Tre Fontane, stretches of sea and wind conditions more favourable to each proper level or preferences.

Salve a tutti, mi chiamo Thomas e come voi amo questo sport, cosi vorrei farvi conoscere un ottimo spot in Sicilia sia per gli amanti del wave sailing che del freestyle ma anche semplicemente per un po’ di freeride.
Puzziteddu si trova sulla costa sud occidentale, facilmente raggiungibile in 45 minuti dall’aeroporto di Palermo o 1 ora dal porto, prendendo la A29 direzione Mazara del Vallo, uscendo a Campobello di Mazara e proseguendo per Torretta–Granitola al cartellone di Kartibubbo svoltare a sinistra fino ad arrivare al mare.


Lo spot lavora al meglio con i venti di Ponente (W) e Maestrale (NW), quest’ultimo da delle condizioni incredibili, onda lunga, liscia e portante ottima sia per saltare che per surfare front-side, mura a destra. Il Libeccio (SW) side-on, alza un onda alta un albero per radicali soltanto.
Con il Levante (E) e lo Scirocco (SE) è meglio spostarsi 300 m. sotto vento nel golfo di Kartibubbo dove il vento side-off pulisce e allunga le onde, mure a sinistra.

I migliori periodi dell’anno per vento e onda sono autunno, inverno e primavera con onde fino a 4 metri e vele da 4.0 a 5.3. D’estate le condizioni sono più freestyle - freeride con un termico da 5.7 - 6.3 e qualche sparata da 5.0 – 5.3.
Quando le condizioni sono troppo impegnativi a Pozziteddu, i meno radicali possono trovare le condizioni che preferiscono lungo i 15 km di costa sabbiosa da Capo Granitola a Tre Fontane.
